A.J. grew up in a very academic household in rural New Jersey, and at the age of seventeen she lost her mother to cancer.

Even though she felt drawn to the arts from a very young age, AJ pursued a Psychology and Chemistry major at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating Magna cum Laude in Psychology. Deciding that her artistic calling should also be explored, AJ moved to Hollywood.

“When it came time to decide between medical school and Hollywood, I decided to give myself a year or two in Los Angeles and see what happened. I moved to LA and I’ve been working here ever since.”

AJ has appeared on a number of television series, and her feature film roles include House Party, Skin Deep, The Inkwell, Assassins (with Sylvester Stallone), Dying Young (with Julia Roberts), Sister Act (with Whoopi Goldberg), and John Singleton’s critically acclaimed feature Baby Boy.

AJ’s father told her from his death bed, “You’re not able to save me, but take all of who you are and what you know and go save the world.”  His words lead her to redefine her life’s purpose, dedicating herself to wellness education and training. When she is not sharing the screen with Julia Roberts, Ving Rhames or Sylvester Stallone, AJ is a renowned lifestyle coach and wellness advocate. She soon created THE AJ ZONE, combining her passions for health and philanthropy.

“THE AJ ZONE is the zone you live in when you want to reach your better! We do not offer personal training – how do you train someone like CeeLo or Stevie Wonder to do anything? How do you train T.O. to be faster? They are at the top of their game, looking for more than just improved performance or more defined bodies, they’re looking for better, healthier lives. Watching me live my life, they know I can get them to better.”

“Anybody who’s anybody takes care of their body in THE AJ ZONE.”
Gabrielle Union, Actress

“I would never think of doing a film or attending the awards without at least 2 weeks with A.J.!”
Emily Blunt, Golden Globe Winner

“AJ is soooo many things!”
-Anne Hathaway, Academy Award nominated Actress
